A beautifully made wooden frame can completely change the way your artwork or photos feel in your home.

Beyond holding the artwork in place, a well-crafted picture frame adds warmth, structure and a sense of intention to your space.

At VeeArt, every timber frame is created through a detailed, hands-on process, from timber selection and cutting to joining, shaping and polishing. This is how our wooden photo frames come to life.

1. Timber Selection: The Foundation of Every Wooden Frame

Every premium timber frame starts with carefully chosen hardwood.

VeeArt use beech and walnut, these high-quality species for their natural grain, stability and long-term durability.

Each piece of timber is inspected by hand. We look for clean texture, straight grain and the right moisture level. Only the best pieces are selected to become VeeArt’s handcrafted picture frames.

2. Precision Cutting: Shaping the Structure of the Frame

Once the timber is selected, each strip is cut into precise lengths and angles.

Cutting is a technical step, especially the 45-degree mitres, because the accuracy directly affects how well the wooden frame fits together. Even a tiny deviation can create gaps at the corners or weaken the structure.

3. Joining the Corners: Forming the Picture Frame

With all four sides prepared, the frame moves into the joining stage.

Applying adhesive

A thin layer of wood adhesive is brushed onto the mitred edges.

Forming the frame

The pieces are placed into a professional joining machine, ensuring the picture frame becomes perfectly square and aligned.

Drying

The newly formed frame is hung to dry, allowing the adhesive to cure and stabilise.

4. Mortise and Tenon Reinforcement: Built for Strength

After drying, the corners receive additional structural reinforcement.

A small mortise (groove) is cut into the corner, and a matching timber tenon (wedge) is inserted.

This classic woodworking method strengthens the timber frame, preventing movement or warping over time.

It’s one of the reasons VeeArt’s wooden frames stay firm and reliable for many years.

5. Shaping the Profile: Giving the Photo Frame Its Form

Each frame then passes through a shaping process with a specialised router.

This step creates the profile (rounded corner or square corner) that defines the character of the finished photo frame.

Different styles require different blades and levels of precision, and this is where craftsmanship truly shows.

6. Sanding & Polishing: A Finish You Can Feel

Sanding is where the tactile beauty of a wooden picture frame is revealed.

Our artisans sand every frame by hand, progressing through several grades of sandpaper.

From coarse to ultra-fine, each stage softens edges, removes imperfections and brings out the natural warmth of the wood.

The result is a smooth, refined finish that feels just as beautiful as it looks.

A Timber Frame That Elevates Your Home

Every VeeArt wooden frame is the product of time, skill and genuine craftsmanship.

Unlike mass-produced photo frames, our pieces are crafted with furniture-grade standards — from the way the timber is selected to the precision of every join and the softness of every polished surface.

A VeeArt picture frame doesn’t just hold your artwork. It enhances it. And it helps your home feel warmer, more intentional and more uniquely yours.
